Cybersecurity Awareness Month is here.
It’s the once-in-a-year opportunity where the spotlight shines bright on security. I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of the things CybSafe are doing to support organizations with their CAM initiatives, and call out the great work done by the National Cybersecurity Alliance.
We all know security threats evolve, yet the fundamental principles of online safety remain the same. So, for the third year running CAM is focusing on four themes, the core building blocks of secure behaviors:
Use strong passwords and a password manager
Turn on multi-factor authentication
Recognize and report phishing
Update software
If you’re measuring and tracking these actions as SebDB security behaviors, here’s the list you’ll need:
[BS209] Uses a password manager
[SB001] Turns on multi-factor authentication
[SB088] Checks emails for signs of phishing
[SB013] Reports known or suspect security incidents
[SB208] Ensures work devices and software are regularly updated
Wait, what? An organization sticking to their guns and hanging in there until the most important challenges are solved? F**k yeah! Here. For. It.
Isn’t CAM just hype, though?
I hear you. Amid Bacon Day, Random Acts of Kindness Month, and Hug A Plumber Day*, it’s easy to be skeptical about CAM’s potential.
But CAM can be a powerful means of equipping and motivating your people to protect themselves and your organization.
*(30th December, February, and 25th April respectively. You’re welcome.)
In fact, in our recent “Who cares about Cybersecurity Awareness Month?” survey, we asked 1,000 people for their thoughts and engagement in CAM.
Here are the headlines:
60% of non-CAM participants think their organization doesn’t see cybersecurity as important.
Only 1 in 4 of respondents were even aware of CAM in the first place.
60% of participants consider their org’s cybersecurity training insufficient.
Ouch. If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’re from an organization that prioritizes cybersecurity. But the research makes it clear that ignoring CAM is a risky gamble, even if the rest of your strategy is decent.
Resources for all
I believe people should be at the heart of security. CybSafe is built on that concept.
But not a single one of us is born knowing how—and why—to do online safety.
That’s where CybSafe comes in. Allow me to introduce you to two top resources we’ve developed to support your CAM activities and power up your people’s security awareness and behaviors.
It’s likely your plans are already set for the month, but if you find yourself need that extra blog on password behavior because your people are asking for more, then check out the…

Oh Behave! The Annual Cybersecurity Attitudes and Behaviors Report 2024-2025
How do people navigate and think about the intricate cybersecurity terrain of today?
To answer this question, every year CybSafe teams up with the National Cybersecurity Alliance to do a yearly deep dive into the heart of digital security.
Spanning the globe and all generations, the resulting report is packed full of intel you won’t find anywhere else. It’ll help you focus your CAM efforts on the most impactful, engaging messages and activities.
Engage. Inspire. Enable.
CAM is about awareness, yes. It’s in the name, after all. But it’s also about inspiring and enabling people to behave securely.
People are a big part of the solution. But they need you to show them the way.
And that’s why CAM is important.
So, we’ll see you amid the action. And make sure to share your CAM wins, your challenges, and your ideas using these hashtags:
