Establishing human factors programs to mitigate blind spots in cyber security

Many business organizations overlook the importance of a human factors program, failing to address human-centric issues and problems that often lead to cybersecurity incidents, substantial financial losses, reputational damage, and decreased productivity. Other sectors like aviation, nuclear power, healthcare, and industrial safety leverage human factors issues as a means to decrease human errors. The lack of attention and exploration given to human factors in cybersecurity poses a threat to every business. As cybersecurity operations become more complex and technologically advanced, the potential for human errors increases. A well-structured human factors program can provide the groundwork to tackle and mitigate these human-centric issues, offer appropriate workforce training, and incorporate psychology-based professionals as key stakeholders to address human factors-based problems.
